Applications now open for second cohort of CatalystQ Minority Business Accelerator

QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY - The county is now accepting applications for the second round of its CatalystQ Minority Business Accelerator, a program designed to support local minority-owned businesses with coaching, resources, and direct grant funding. The initiative aims to help entrepreneurs overcome common barriers to growth and build long-term stability.

Participants in the accelerator will work with experienced mentors who focus on practical business challenges, from financial management to marketing strategy. The program also connects business owners with a network of local partners and provides access to tools that can help streamline daily operations. At the end of the session, eligible businesses may receive grant money to put toward specific projects or improvements.

The first cohort wrapped up earlier this year, and county officials say the feedback was strong. Several participating owners reported measurable gains in revenue and clearer plans for expansion. The new session is expected to follow a similar structure, with a mix of group workshops and one-on-one meetings.

To qualify, applicants must be majority-owned and operated by a minority, be based in Queen Anne's County, and have been in business for at least one year. The program is open to a range of industries, including retail, food service, construction, and professional services.

Interested business owners can find the full application and eligibility details on the county's economic development website. The deadline to apply is the end of the month, with the program set to begin in early spring. Space is limited, so early submissions are encouraged. County leaders say they hope to continue expanding the program in future years as demand grows.
