SEOUL, South Korea, April 08, 2025—Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation has officially revealed plans to terminate its Display business by the end of the second quarter of 2025. This decision comes after an extensive review by the Board of Directors, who unanimously approved the shutdown.
Previously, the company had indicated its intention to evaluate various strategic options regarding the Display segment. As part of this transition, Magnachip will classify the Display business as discontinued operations when it reports its first-quarter results in May.
The move marks a significant shift for the company, which has been a player in the Display market. While the decision reflects current market conditions and internal assessments, the company aims to refocus its efforts on more profitable segments. Stakeholders and employees are expected to receive further details as the timeline for the shutdown progresses. This strategic pivot underscores the challenges faced by companies in the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry.
