Lovable CEO says AI is collapsing barriers to starting a business

The rise of artificial intelligence is making it easier than ever for people to launch businesses and turn ideas into working products, according to Anton Osika, CEO of Lovable. In a conversation with Arjun Kharpal, Osika argued that AI tools are collapsing many of the traditional barriers that once kept aspiring founders on the sidelines.

Osika pointed to the growing practice of vibe coding, where people describe what they want in plain language and AI generates the underlying software. Tasks that once required a team of engineers can now be handled by a single person with a clear idea. He also discussed how AI agents are taking on more complex work, from writing code to testing and refining applications.

The discussion touched on what this shift means for professional developers. Rather than replacing them, Osika suggested that AI changes the nature of their work, letting them focus on bigger problems while routine coding becomes automated.

The two also explored whether Europe can compete in the global AI race. Osika acknowledged the dominance of American and Chinese companies but argued that Europe has strong talent and a growing startup scene. He said the continent needs to move faster and take more risks if it wants to build world class AI companies.

For Osika, the bigger story is what happens when more people can build. He believes that lowering the technical barrier will lead to a wave of new businesses from founders who previously lacked the skills or resources to get started.
