Black Business Expo held at the Savannah Convention Center

Black Business Expo held at the Savannah Convention Center

The Savannah Convention Center played host to a vibrant gathering this weekend as the annual Black Business Expo returned for its biggest showing yet. Organizers reported a steady stream of visitors throughout the day, with dozens of local entrepreneurs setting up booths to showcase everything from handmade skincare lines and custom apparel to catering services and financial planning firms.

For many vendors, the event was more than just a marketplace. It was a chance to build real connections with the community and with each other. Several small business owners noted that the expo provided a rare opportunity to network with potential mentors and investors who understand the specific challenges faced by Black-owned companies. Workshops on securing small business loans and navigating digital marketing drew packed rooms, with attendees taking notes and asking pointed questions.

The energy inside the hall was upbeat, with live music from a local jazz trio adding to the atmosphere. Shoppers browsed at a relaxed pace, often stopping to chat with the people behind the tables. One vendor, who runs a catering operation out of her home kitchen, said she had already booked three catering gigs by early afternoon. Another, a young graphic designer, handed out business cards faster than she could print them.

Organizers say they are already planning for next year and hope to expand the expo to a two-day format. The goal, they said, is to keep the momentum going and make sure the resources and visibility offered here are available to even more entrepreneurs in the region. For now, the feedback from both buyers and sellers suggests the event hit its mark.
