In an effort to support the completion of the Paradise Coast Sports Complex and other tourism-related projects, Collier County officials are moving forward with plans to place a referendum on the ballot for registered voters next year. The proposal seeks to increase the tourist-development tax by one cent, bringing the total rate to 6 cents. If approved, Collier County would join 12 other counties in the state that currently levy the maximum allowable tax rate.
The additional revenue generated from this tax increase is expected to significantly contribute to the funding of various initiatives aimed at enhancing the local tourism industry. Proponents argue that the investment in tourism infrastructure will not only bolster the county's economy but also improve the overall visitor experience.
