More than ten years after selling her first hand-poured candles at the Great Barrington Farmers Market, the owner of The Mossy Cauldron has finally opened a brick-and-mortar store downtown. She describes the move as coming "full circle" from her early days of packing a tent and a table every Saturday morning.
The new shop, located on Main Street, offers more than just the signature candles that built the brand's reputation. Customers will find a carefully curated selection of home goods, apothecary items, and seasonal decor. The space itself reflects the same earthy, witchy aesthetic that made the market stall a local favorite. Exposed wood shelves hold jars of dried herbs, while the scent of cedar and clove hangs in the air.
For the owner, the transition from a weekly pop-up to a permanent address was not just a business decision but a personal milestone. She recalled the early years of mixing wax in her kitchen and hauling inventory in a hatchback. Now, with a storefront of her own, she can offer the same products in a setting that invites people to linger and explore.
The opening has drawn a steady stream of longtime customers who remember the original market days. Many have watched the brand grow from a side hustle into a downtown anchor. The owner says she is grateful for that support and plans to keep the shop feeling like an extension of the community rather than a typical retail store.
The Mossy Cauldron is now open six days a week, with plans for workshops and seasonal events in the coming months.
