Water main break cleanup continues as West Hollywood businesses count losses

Cleanup crews remain on site in West Hollywood as local businesses begin to assess the financial toll from a major water main break that flooded streets and storefronts earlier this week. Officials confirmed that the ruptured pipe has been replaced, but the work is not finished. The new section of pipe still needs to undergo pressure testing and inspection before the city can declare the system fully operational.

For shop owners and restaurant operators along the affected stretch, the disruption has been costly. Several reported water damage to inventory, flooring, and electrical systems. Some establishments remain closed as they wait for drying equipment and structural assessments. Others have reopened but are dealing with reduced foot traffic while sidewalks and parking lanes remain blocked by construction vehicles and barriers.

City engineers said the testing phase could take another day or two. Until then, water service to some nearby buildings will remain restricted or under low pressure. Officials have urged patience, noting that rushing the process could lead to another failure. Meanwhile, business owners are left to calculate lost revenue and file insurance claims, hoping for a swift return to normal operations.
