German luxury automaker Porsche has signed a major deal with India's largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), to roll out artificial intelligence across its operations. The contract, valued at $1.5 billion, marks one of the biggest AI-focused agreements in the automotive sector this year.
Under the multi-year partnership, TCS will help Porsche integrate AI into manufacturing, supply chain management, and customer experience systems. The work will also cover data analytics and cloud infrastructure, with the goal of making Porsche's production lines more flexible and efficient. TCS will set up dedicated teams in Germany and India to support the project.
Porsche has been under pressure to cut costs and speed up development of electric vehicles, especially as competition from Tesla and Chinese brands intensifies. The company says AI will help it predict maintenance needs, reduce downtime in factories, and personalize the buying experience for customers. TCS, which already works with several global automakers, will also assist with training Porsche staff to use the new tools.
The deal is a boost for TCS, which has been looking to expand beyond traditional IT outsourcing into high-value digital services. Shares of TCS rose slightly after the announcement. Neither company disclosed how the payments will be structured over the contract period, but both said the partnership will run for at least five years. Porsche is aiming to have AI-driven processes in place across its main plants by 2027.
